Degenerative Myelopathy

Sonny, my German Shepherd, had a myelogram and MRI in March 2002 and was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. Immediately following the diagnosis, Sonny was referred by his primary doctor (Dr. Jill Roberts-Wilson) to Dr. Beebe for evaluation. His treatments have consisted of acupuncture and various Chinese herbs. Included in his treatments is physical therapy with the underwater treadmill twice a week, plus chiropractic treatment to keep his spine in proper alignment, which is done about every three weeks. These combined treatments have slowed the progress of degeneration, which I believe would have progressed faster if left untreated (also, starting the treatments immediately instead of waiting). Without the team effort in caring for Sonny, he may not have had the quality of life he has today. Thank you all! ~ Terry Nakashima
