Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Back in 2001, my cat, Madonna (age 12 at the time), was vomiting, had diarrhea, and stopped eating. She was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. Madonna was given Western medicine and that stopped her vomiting, but she still had the diarrhea. She slowly gained her appetite back, but that was not enough and she continued to lose weight. She was put on a steroid for her diarrhea, and that helped for a few days but then it returned. All this time, she had tested positive and negative for feline leukemia.

I knew Dr. Beebe when she practiced Western medicine and knew she was now more focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and decided to go that route with Madonna since I was not seeing any improvement with Western medicine.

Madonna first saw Dr. Beebe in December 2002, and over an 8-month period she was given acupuncture and a variety of Chinese herbs for her diarrhea and switched her over to wet cat food instead of dry. We saw very little improvement over this timeframe, but we were not going to give up. With the advice of someone close to Dr. Beebe, she switched Madonna's herbs to three specific formulas and almost immediately her diarrhea cleared up within 3-5 days. We then concentrated on determining the right type of cat food that would result in a normal stool. We reached this milestone in November 2003.

Today, Madonna continues to take her herbs, has gained some of her weight back, has quite the appetite, and looks forward to her Reiki sessions with Dr. Beebe. Madonna now has the quality of life she deserves.

Fluffernutter, my 17-year-old cat diagnosed with kidney disease last year, is also under the care of Dr. Beebe and receives acupuncture and herbs.

Thank you Dr. Beebe and staff.
