Dr. Signe Beebe DVM, CVA

Dr. Beebe is a 1988 graduate of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation, she practiced veterinary emergency medicine and critical care exclusively until 1997. During this time, she developed, owned and operated a 24-hour animal emergency medicine and critical care facility in central Washington State. Dr. Beebe began her study of alternative and complementary medicine modalities in 1994. She relocated to California in 1997, during which time she practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine as her primary alternative and complementary modality, which she integrated with Western veterinary medical care.

In 2000, Dr. Beebe attended the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, Florida, and received her certification in veterinary acupuncture under the instruction of Dr. Huisheng Xie, DVM, PhD, MS. Dr. Xie is a native of China and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Xie is Head of the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Service at the VMTH and also coordinates the veterinary acupuncture internship program.

From 1997 to the present, Dr. Beebe has completed numerous courses in advanced and basic Chinese herbology under the instruction of Dr. Gary Allen, DOM, Dr. Mona Boudreaux, DVM, CVA, and Dr. Kezhuang Zhao, MD, DOM. In addition, Dr. Beebe continues independent clinical study of traditional Chinese herbal medicine and its application to veterinary medicine with Dr. Baoping Li, MD, PhD, DOM. Dr. Li is a native of China, and has 32 years of experience in the use of acupuncture and Chinese medicinal herbs. Dr. Li owns the New Life Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic in Davis, California. Dr. Beebe has completed the University of Tennessee Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Certificate Program and the Chi Institute's Tuina Certification Course. She has a special interest in the development of Chinese medicine programs for exotic/zoo animals.

Dr. Beebe is a veterinary officer in the United States Army Reserve, where she has organized veterinary corps humanitarian aid missions for Third World countries and provides veterinary care to Military Working Dogs (MWD). Prior to her assignment as a reserve officer, she served three years on active duty at the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

Dr. Beebe is currently pursuing her Masters of Chinese Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and Southwest China Agricultural University under Dr. Huisheng Xie and Dr. Hanru Liu.



 Dr. Jodi Van Tine, DVM, MA, CVA

Dr. Van Tine is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology from Arizona State University. After undergraduate school, she worked at DNAX Research Institute creating monoclonal antibodies which identified helper T cell cytokines, concurrently earning a Masters of Art degree in Biology (Cellular Immunology) from San Jose State University in 1989. After graduation from veterinary school in 1994, she worked at a mixed animal practice in Auburn, California, for three years treating all species of domestic animals and some wildlife. In 1997, she moved to Folsom, California, where she was a general practitioner in an exclusively small animal practice for nine years.

In 2004, Dr. Van Tine was introduced to alternative and complementary medicine when she brought her golden retriever, Bailey, to the Integrative Veterinary Center to see Dr. Signe Beebe for treatment of Bailey's splenic hemangiosarcoma, to avoid the toxic effects of chemotherapy. She saw her beloved pet thrive with an improved quality of life for the last nine weeks of her life. She was so impressed that she immediately started integrating nutritional therapy and some basic Chinese herbal formulas into her Western practice treatments with excellent results.

Dr. Van Tine received certification in equine and canine acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) in 2006. In April 2006, Dr. Van Tine accepted an associate position at the IVC under the mentorship of Dr. Beebe. She combines the best of Western and TCVM systems of one disease for an integrative approach to veterinary medicine. Her areas of special interest are the integrative treatment of cancer, liver disease, and chronic pain. Her breed specialty is Golden Retrievers.



 Dr. W. Troy Stevens, DC

Dr. Stevens graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in 1991. Prior to earning his doctorate in chiropractic, Dr. Stevens attended Southern Oregon State University, where he completed three years of undergraduate studies in science and biology. After graduation, he went into practice as an associate for three years in Sacramento before opening his own clinic in Citrus Heights in 1994. In 1996, Dr. Stevens purchased a second practice in Dixon, California, where he is currently operating full time.

In 1993, Dr. Stevens received certification in California's Workers Compensation Qualified Medical Evaluator Program, which he held for ten years before deciding to devote more time to his interest in animal chiropractic. In 2003, Dr. Stevens attended the foremost leading Animal Chiropractic School, Options for Animals in Northern Illinois. He completed over 180 hours of course study in animal chiropractic before receiving his certificate of completion, and was certified by the American Veterinarian Chiropractic Association in 2004.



 Jane Forsyth, Bsc Msc

Originally from England, Jane was raised in Hong Kong and university educated in California (undergraduate) and Scotland (postgraduate). Now a permanent resident of California, Jane coordinates the Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program at the Integrative Veterinary Center.

Jane attended the University of California, Davis, from 1994 to 1998, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in exercise physiology. In February, 2002, she obtained a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Science (with license to practice physical therapy) from Glasgow Caledonian University in the U.K. Jane is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), the professional, educational and trade union body for chartered physical therapists, students and assistants in the U.K.

From 2002 to 2004, Jane was employed as a physical therapist at a large, acute care teaching hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. During this time, she gained valuable experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, which included specialized physical therapy for cancer patients and participating in emergency on-call respiratory treatment for acutely ill patients. Jane's physical therapy clinical education has been enhanced by the completion of many continuing education courses, which included basic acupuncture training for pain relief in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.

Jane is currently pursuing continuing education in canine rehabilitation and physical therapy. She is a devoted dog owner who firmly believes in compassion and respect for all living creatures -- human and animal! She works closely with the veterinarians of the Integrative Veterinary Center to develop and implement appropriate veterinary physiotherapy programs for dogs. She is enthusiastic about her position and thoroughly enjoys applying her professional knowledge, experience and practical skills to benefit pets with their rehabilitation. Jane is active in client education, and gives classes to pet owners and agility clubs on home physical therapy programs. These classes include range of motion exercises, hot and cold treatment applications, massage therapy, therapeutic exercise, and swim therapy.
